Chalet Pellonranta is located in Pello in Finnish Lapland close to Swedish border. In winter, you are surrounded by Pello's excellent cross-country skiing trails. Near the cottage you can reach a 25 km trail. By car you can go to do cross-country skiing for example to Pello's mountain resort Ritavaara (11 km). If you want, you can go to the public campfire place of Pellojärvi lake, located right next to our chalet. It's also a great place to observe the Northern Lights.


You can go downhill skiing in Mount Ritavaara, Svanstein Ski (30 km) or Ylläs Mountain Resort (105 km). At Mount Ritavaara in Pello, you can also enjoy snowshoeing (equipment can be rented) or safaris with Soul Mate Huskies. If you want to visit reindeer a farm or have a reindeer safari, you can go to Reindeer Lake resort reindeer farm in Pello (25 km), on Tatuka Reindeer Farm in Ylitornio.


In winter, you can also visit Rovaniemi's Santa Claus Village and Arktikum museum & science center, which are just over an hour's drive away. The famous Arctic SnowHotel (80 km) and Lapland Hotels SnowVillage in Kittilä (120 km) are unique places to admire the ice and snow constructions.



In summer, you can cycle on quiet roads or hike in different destinations such as Eeron Polku trail. Visiting the beautiful rapids of Tornionjoki River (Torne River) on the border of Finland and Sweden is also unforgettable experience. On a sunny summer day, you can enjoy Valkeajärvi lake's wonderful beach with a very clear water. Come rain or shine, you can also visit Sweden's Haparanda, Övertorneå (Matarenki) or Pello Village on the Swedish side.


Pello is also the official Fishing Capital of Finland: you can fish salmon in Tornionjoki River or catch pike in the region's fish-rich lakes such as Miekojärvi Lake.
